An independent survey, by Ordkraft, of the biggest city regions in Norway from 2009 shows that the Trondheim region in Trøndelag (Mid-Norway) is the winner when people are asked to choose where they would prefer to live, work or study.
 Photo: (c) Trondheim kommune When the respondents are asked where they would prefer to go on holiday the Trondheim region is beaten by some of the other regions, even though 84 % agree with the statement that the Trondheim region is a nice holiday destination.
79 % of the respondents from outside the region said that they have positive or very positive associations when they hear the name “Trondheim region” while as many as 92 % of the respondents from the region have positive or very positive associations to their own region. Asked which industries the respondents associate with the region the answers were information and communication technology, tourism and agriculture, forestry and fishing industry. The answers form the inhabitants in the region are generally in accordance with the rest of the country with the exceptions of the oil and gas industries and power production which score significantly higher in the region than on a national scale.
The region is seen as a region with many interesting jobs for people with higher education, having a good research community, a good place to go for higher education and as a region with an interesting cultural life and every opportunity to have an active life off hours.
Many of the respondents strongly agree with the claim that the Trondheim region is a leader when it comes to environmental friendly technology in industry and that the region is a safe place to live and bring up children.
